Abraham Ashenafi is Program Coordinator for the Global Health Committee in Ethiopia since 2023 where he focuses on GHC’s drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) program, having served as the organization’s Assistant Medical Coordinator from 2013-2023. Prior to working with GHC, Abraham worked with Medecins sans Fronteires (MSF) France from 2005-2007 and from 2007-2013 he worked with MSF-Belgium (MSF-B), where he served as Assistant Medical Coordinator, Deputy Head of Mission and as the advisor to the Head of Mission. Furthermore, Abraham was the MSF-B coordinator for the 2008 and 2010 Ethiopian Nutrition Emergencies, the MSF-B MDR-TB project, and was involved in the MSF assessments of the 2012 Kenyan refugee and IDP emergency in Moyale district Oromia /Somali region of Ethiopia. Abraham served as a board member for MSF East Africa and is a member of the MSF-B Operational Center of Brussels (OCB). Abraham received his Health Assistant Diploma from Harare Health College, his Clinical Nursing Diploma from the Tropical College of Medicine in Addis Ababa, and his bachelor’s degree in Public Health from KeaMed College in Addis Ababa.
