Organizational Details

The Cambodian Health Committee (CHC) was founded in Cambodia in 1994 as an independent local non-governmental organization (NGO), which is officially recognized by the Cambodian Ministry of the Interior. CHC has a head office in Phnom Penh and currently employs 132 Cambodian staff members who work throughout the country under the leadership of Executive Director, Mr. Heng Bunsieth. Over the past 31 years, CHC has been at the forefront of providing access to sustainable TB, drug resistant-TB, and HIV care in Cambodia and works in partnership with the Cambodian Ministry of Health (MOH), and with its National TB Program (NTP) and National Center for HIV/AIDS, Dermatology, and STDs (NCHADS). In parallel, the Cambodian Health Committee obtained U.S. 501(c)3 charity status in the US in 2000, which underwent a name change to Global Health Committee dba Cambodian Health Committee in 2008 as CHC’s work expanded to Africa.

Global Health Committee (GHC) obtained international charity status in Ethiopia in 2009, where it has worked in partnership with the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) since 2009 to initiate and scale-up countrywide access to drug resistant-TB treatment and care in the country. Led by Country Director, Ms. Selamawit Hagos, GHC has 41 Ethiopian staff members, and directly supports drug resistant TB care in 5 regions of Ethiopia in partnership with the FMOH: St. Peter’s Hospital in Addis Ababa, Gondar University Hospital in Amhara Province, Yirgalem Hospital in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR) region, Dupti Hospital in Afar Province, and Mekele Hospital in Tigray Province.
